Although the Fair Meadows internship has been filled for this summer, it will remain in the Internships category for those looking for an internship in the future!
Fair Meadows at Tulsa will be interviewing prospective candidates for its summer internships.
If you are interested in interviewing for the position, fill out form and return to Fair Meadows marketing director Richard Linihan or contact him at 918-744-1113 ext. 3613 and preference will go to those living in the Tulsa area in the summer.
THE POSITION: Normally reserved for students from the University of Tulsa or Oklahoma State University who are currently enrolled in the following departments – Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a major or minor concerning business promotional aspects.
DUTIES: As an intern with Fair Meadows, you would work Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from June 5-July 27, 2008 from approximately 4:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m.; and some Sundays, delivering press releases and DVDs of Saturday night’s races to the local television stations. The Sunday deliveries would take place late mornings or early afternoons and only take a couple of hours wherever it fits best into your schedule.
The interns will help with the racetrack’s promotional events, such as spinning wheel giveaways on Thursdays and Fridays, and also its biggest and most popular promotion on Saturday nights – Wheel or No Wheel. Interns are also required to do some on-microphone work during the race meet for promotions, and will also be expected to write some short press releases on deadline. For those interested in writing, there also will be some opportunities to do feature stories at the track that may be picked up by local television and newspaper outlets.
PERKS: The job pays $8 an hour and we have worked with TU and OSU in the past to get the student 3 hours course credit upon completion of the internship. We will do this again. Interns also will work in a very flexible setting at Fair Meadows. If there are certain weekends you need off, we will work around that for special events you may have planned. We will be taking occasional trips to the barns to visit with some of our best racehorses.
